Vrelo was formed as a vocal and instrumental ethno ensemble but in 2003 they transformed into a band. Since then, they don’t use traditional musical material as basis of their work but only as a motive.
The combination of six female vocals (ranging between old and modern forms of expression) and only two instruments (bass and drums) with prepared samples - proved to be a hit in a world scale. In the prestigious competition for The Next Big Thing 2007 (BBC World Service) in the competition of over 2,500 performers from 88 countries, Vrelo played in London and qualified for the second place. In August 2008 the band released their first album Preko reke.
