Young Austrian band Falb Fiction, led by saxophone player and composer Viola Falb, was founded in 2004. In 2006 the band won the European Jazz Newcomer Award in Czech Republic. Due to a large number of concerts in Austria and abroad (New York, Istanbul, Ankara, Berlin, Athens, Madrid…) in the last few years, the four musicians have blended into a throbbing unit, creating space for open-minded improvisation.
For the artistic work with her group Falb Fiction and with different other projects (Jazzwerkstatt Wien, Vienna Jazz Composers, Phoen…) for musical compositions and concepts for various ensembles, Viola Falb won the most honorable Austrian Jazz Award - Hans Koller Prize: Newcomer Of The Year 2008. Two years after the successful debut “Waiting for”, the musicians have come together again to record the second CD, “Lost Control”, in which the band shows more freedom for improvisation and a mixture of various styles.
