In the year of its jubilee and the celebration of the Edict of Milan Nišvillle jazz festival continues the volunteering story and opens the gates of the Nis Fortress for Nišvillle volunteer team of 2013. After many positive reviews of last year and last year's honoring of the volunteer team, volunteering becomes a recognizable part of the festival and certainly a significant contribution to the successful organization and implementation of events. Currently there is great interest of the volunteers from Serbia, the region and beyond. This year we will offer even more exciting volunteers’ program.
Adam Nussbaum
Adam Nussbaum ZZ quartet
The band Adam Nussbaum ZZ Quartet is going to perform at this year Nisville jazz festival (at Saturday, August 17th). This group (Adam Nussabaum - drums, Simone Zanchini-accordeon, Ratko Zjaca – guitar, Martin Gjakonovski - bass) has a unique musical vision that absorbs and reflects all manner of music while retaining an enviable individualism and high quality craftsmanship that can span from quiet intimacy to searing intensity.
Marius Neset
Marius Neset – new jazz star
Young tenor and soprano sax player from Norway Marius Neset (Bergen, 1985) is going to play with his quartet at the clossing night of Nisville jazz festival 2013.
Born in Bergen, Norway, Neset moved to Copenhagen in 2003 to study at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory where he met British musician Django Bates, who became a hugely important figure in the early part of Neset’s career. Bates was quick to notice his talent, asking him to join his stoRMChaser big band and, later on, his small group Human Chain. Neset’s main project since 2005 has been JazzKamikaze. With its eclectic mix of jazz, rock, electronica and classical music, the group has had great international success playing concerts in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Africa.
Ron CarterRon Carter Golden Strike Trio
The most recorded jayy musician in the history – great bass player Ron Carter is going to perform at Nisville 2013 along with his Golden Strike Trio with guitarist Russel Malone and pianist Donald Vega.
Ron Carter is among the most original, prolific, and influential bassists in jazz. With more than 2,000 albums to his credit, he has recorded with many of music's greats: Tommy Flanagan, Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, the Kronos Quartet, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, and Bobby Timmons. In the early 1960s he performed throughout the United States in concert halls and nightclubs with Jaki Byard and Eric Dolphy. He later toured Europe with Cannonball Adderley. From 1963 to 1968, he was a member of the classic and acclaimed Miles Davis Quintet. He was named Outstanding Bassist of the Decade by the Detroit News, Jazz Bassist of the Year by Downbeat magazine, and Most Valuable Player by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Džezom do tolerancije
U skladu sa ovogodišnjim sloganom festivala “Džezom do tolerancije”, Nišville jazz festival obeležiće Svetski dan džeza u utorak 30. aprila u klubu “Feedback”. U oficijelnom programu koji počinje 21:00 nastupaju R - Trio i “Jam Station”.
Svoj dolazak su najavili mnogi niški jazz i blues muzičari, pa će se posle oficijelnog nastupa, obeležavanje Dana džeza nastaviti kao džem sešn. Ulaz je besplatan.
Bobby CarcassesBobby Carcasses – guru of Cuban jazz
One of the leading Cuban muscians Bobby Carcasses is going to perform at the closing of Nišville jazz festival (Saturday, August 17th). Whereas in the past he has been popularly known as the perfect “Showman” and Entertainer, Bobby is now considered the ultimate Guru of Afrocuban Jazz, offering inspiration to the up and coming generation of new Cuban Jazz musicians as many of the Best new talents have started their careers playing with Bobby’s band.
Roy GeletoRay Gelato and His Giants of Jive
British sax player, singer and showman Ray Gelato is going to perform at the opening of Nišville jazz festival (Thursday, August 15th) with his band “Giants of Jive”.
Ray Gellato (Ray Keith Irwin) was born at October 25th 1961 in London, England. As a child, Ray heard music from the record collection of his father, an American soldier stationed in Britain. The music included Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr. and swing bands of the 40s, as well as 50s rock ‘n’ roll and R&B, with the bands led by Louis Jordan and Louis Prima proving to be especially influential. In the latter’s case, Irwin was drawn to the leader’s singing and to the tenor saxophone playing of Sam Butera. In 1979, Irwin began studying the tenor saxophone and the following year was sufficiently proficient to play professionally with the Dynamite Band, a group that was influenced by Bill Haley. He was introduced to such sax greats as, Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Illinois Jacquet, Ben Webster, etc. These masters became big influences on Gelato's sax playing..
Ginger BakerGinger Baker Jazz Confusion ft. Pew Wee Ellis
Ginger Baker Blues Confusion, band led by legendary drummer, is going to perform at Nisville 2013. Members of the band are great funk and jazz sax player Pee Wee Ellis, bass player Alec Dankworth, and percusion player Abass Doddo.
Peter Edward "Ginger" Baker (born 19 August 1939 in Lewisham, South London) is an English drummer, best known for his work withCream and Blind Faith. He is also known for his numerous associations with World music, mainly the use of African influences. He has also had other collaborations such as with Gary Moore, Hawkwind and Public Image Ltd.
Stjepko GutAward for lifetime achievement to Steve Gut
Stjepko – Steve Gut, famous trumpeter, band leader, composer, arranger, conductor and educator - this year's winner Nišville Festival Lifetime Achievement. Award will be presented at Nisville opening - August 15th.

Nisville among the best of Serbia again
Nisville jazz festival is among the nominated brands in the choice of brands called „The Best of Serbia“,organized by Serbian Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications, Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the economic magazine ”The Economic Review”.
Last year Nisville festival won the main prize in the category of local brands, and this year is also nominated in the category of small and medium companies.

Kyle Eastwood
Eastwood day at Nisville
Band of double bass player, bass guitarist and composer Kyle Eastwood is going to perform at Nisville 2013. Kyle is the son of Clint Eastwood, so Nisville festival invited famous filmmaker, actor, composer and jazz promoter to come at Nisville, too.
Kyle Eastwood (born May 19, 1968) grew up in Carmel, California as the eldest son of actor Clint Eastwood. While doing his homework Kyle remembers listening to records of jazz stars such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Miles Davis playing in the house. His father had been attending the Monterey Jazz Festival since it began in 1958 and when his children were born it became a yearly family outing. "One advantage of having a famous father was I got to go backstage", Eastwood explained in an interview. "I met a lot of artists, greats like Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughan. Looking back on that, I can see how much the musicians I met there influenced my career."
